Slide lock to pin lock covertion.

Im hung between originality and the pin lock conversion. Anybody have or know what i need to convert to the pin locks? Not just the rod but the whole assembly? Or if i can round up the parts for the slide lock to be repaired should i stick with it?

You will have to drill a hole in the top part of your door for the regular locks correct? You don't have a hole up there do you?

Out of curiosity, what is wrong with your slides?? Is it the mechanism in the lock itself or is it the plastic sliding piece?? Only asking because I'm a huge fan of the slides.

One side the rod to the slide lock has been removed and a nail is being used as a pin lock and the other side the slide doesn't work, you can just slide it back and fourth. I'm tempted to keep it as slide locks if I can find the parts to fix them

Ahh, okay. I wasn't sure because I broke my plastic sliding piece earlier this summer. Those are easy to replace and I think it was only like 15$. In your case it sounds like you need the whole locking assembly though and at that point I would assume it's preference. I can't imagine that one's much harder than the other to install.

As far as the parts, I would think a junkyard would have the pins. The slides were only used a couple of years though. It might be more difficult to find the whole assembly for those.

Ive got 2 sets of the plastic slide parts. I may just leave it as the slides, im cut between originality and working locks...

I personally love having locks on my vehicles. I live in western Maine and I might have 2 neighbors that live within a couple miles of me, so at night Im even in the habit if leaving the keys I'm the ignition. BUT I also carry around 1 or 2 tool sets behind my seats that are worth about 200$ each and if I go somewhere that I'm worried about losing them, it's peace of mind to be able to lock it up.

(That being said, I'll always fix my slide locks until i cant find the parts because I think it makes the interior very unique and even if I lock the doors once every 3 months, I still like to be able to)

I like the look of the slide locks to but I've been reading that they break very easy, if I can fix them and they work correctly it would be nice
