park brake assembly

hey, so I have a 1979 bronco and the park brake doesn't work. when i press the pedal its loose and doesn't lock down. i think the teeth on it are stripped but im not sure. i was wondering if there are parts to fix it, or maybe a new replacement assembly. do any other model f series or broncos fit? i know the 73-79's should fit but those are hard to find at the wreckers haha

I would unbolt it and give the whole assembly a once over to see if the teeth are messed up or if something is preventing it from grabbing the teeth. I've seen replacements on eBay cheap recently so I know they are out there.

The only parts available for the park brake control were the pedal pad and the release handle. Otherwise, you had to buy the whole enchilada.

The front cable that attaches to the control is a separate part.

D6TZ-2780-A .. Park Brake Control / Obsolete

1976/79 F100/350 & 1978/79 Bronco.

NOS PARTS SOURCE in Olathe KS has 1 = 913-220-5746.

Not to hijack the thread, but the schematic by NumberDummy just solved the mystery of why my parking brake doesn't work correctly.

I never knew that the spring 2A651 under the chassis existed(mine didn't have it when I rebuilt the system) but I knew I needed something there, so I bought an assortment of brake springs that I was going to try installing on that cable junction but the springs I bought were incorrect size. Is that spring available and would anyone have some pictures of it installed?

Thanks for your time!

Thank you for that. Would you happen to know it's mounting method or have access to a picture that would show it? Maybe I can still make something work with the brake springs I purchased.

[EDIT]Found one for sale on eBay and figured out it connects via the eyelet on the pedal-side cable and frame so i think I can figure out how it goes together. Thank you very much for all your help on the part number!
