Inner fender mixup

Has anyone gone over the different year inner fender differences?
I ended up with a variety, and an aftermarket set... trying to find out if someone has made the wrong inner fender work?

I guess it all depends on how you define "wrong". Most of my builds have custom inner fenders because I like a clean look. If you are doing a restoration then I wouldn't attempt to make a different inner fender work. This is just sheetmetal, the fit is not critical...I would say go with what you like.

Original 1

Part of why replacing original 1

Replacement without cutouts

Original 2

Aftermarket, from other year?...seems too long. No holes for radiator support but appears holes line up with inner fender brace. ..

Not a restoration....

I was thinking of making a template of the holes on the original inner fender and cutting the front end of the aftermarket and drilling holes... Just seemed odd that one year might be longer to mount the fenders, the bottom part nearly matches the framerail....
If you have run these aftermarket fenders, did you fab something up to hold the bottoms in place at the rear? I think I got them from hot rodz years ago and then found out they were for a different year, 53 vs my 52...

Just from memory, 48-50 inners are longer overall. 51-52 are the same except that '51's have a dog leg at the lower rear where they bolt to the frame (and promptly rip when the frame flexes). It looks like your "OEM without cutout" and "original 2" are '52's.

Here is a '51 with the dog leg

Charlie, are you buying them somewhere or making them? Do you have any pictures?

Would the left hand inner fender without the shock cut out be for a F4 or larger truck?

Sorry for the late response, been out of town for a few days. First off, most all my work is on F100s but the F1s shouldn't be much different. I use melamine or hardboard to mock up my inner fenders...gorilla tape works good to hold the sections together especially where an angle occurs. Once I have the design worked out I take the mock up over to Direct Sheetmetal and have it made. If they see a market for the item then Dave will make a template and put it in their catalog.
Here is a pic of my latest mock up, it's a little difficult to see behind the engine but hopefully you can get an idea of what the process looks like...
