Have the opportunity to pick up a 1984 F-150 for $400. The body is in great condition, frame still has some paint on it. The interior dash and trim are in great condition. I actually think (in speaking with the owner) that the engine/motor just needs a new or rebuilt carb. Is this a steal/bargain?
Oh, and has a clean title too...

You tell your girlfriend that there is tons of opportunity to re-coup the initial cost. The air cleaner, if it's original is worth $100 alone, not to mention all of the misc. parts. A rebuilt carb from National in Florida is around 175. to 250. if it's a M2150. Good Buy !
When You get the chance, put the truck info in Your signature for future inquiries, and some pics would be cool.

What it looked like when we found it...
On the bright side I get to keep all the contents of the bed...
An engine...
Body is in fantastic condition given the year
The seat may be salvageable...
But that behind though...

Suppose I should start a build thread. I actually negotiated to tow the green one for free. The guy that sold it to me had a 2003 ford taurus that I picked up as part of the deal as well. I get the keep the truck and my mechanic friend keeps to taurus (for the cats and salvage metal). So far I've invested $1100 in this project ($700 for the white and $400 for the green ). If there are any left over parts then I'll sell those off, and hopefully make some money back. I plan on keeping a spreadsheet of everything so in the end I can see what the actual cost was (not including labor hours...I'd go bankrupt then).
