1997 f-150 chassis swap to 1969 f-100

Hello everyone, I am new to this site. I have just about finished my last project and am gathering info for my next mission. I have a 1969 F-100 that I purchased awhile back. I had plans of doing the crown Vic swap that seems to be so common. However since then I have aquired a low mileage 1997 f-150 short bed, single cab donor truck. My question is has anyone swapped a 67-72 f-100 body onto the 1997-2003 f-150 chassis? My plans would be to retain the complete driveline including the low mileage 5.4 engine, trans and computer. In my research I notice the wheel base is about 5" shorter on the 1969, any other ideas? Thanks for any and all input or suggestions......Casey

I haven't done that particular swap, but 5" wouldn't be hard to take out of the bed.

Hey Turbo Dog, thanks for your input. Maybe I stated it wrong . The frame of the 97' f-150 is about 5'' longer(120.2") wheelbase than the body of the 69' f-100, which is (115"). So my plan is to take 5.2" out of the frame of the 97' chassis. I was just wondering if anyone had done this before. Trying to get an idea if any of the body mounting tabs, etc.. were going to be an issue. I had originaly planned to do the crown vic swap, but, as I was waiting to finish my prior project my son totaled out his 97' f-150 with 80k, 5.4, auto, buckets. Damage was all body related. So I bought the salvage back. You see where I am going with this. as I stated, I haven't found anyone's build with this swap. I figured somebody here on the old innerweb had done this. Anyway, good to meet ya....thanks for looking...Casey

Haven't heard of anyone doing this, but, you can shorten the frame to fit the body.

That one I believe is in this forum somewhere as well, and there is a Lightning swap too.
Not much is a bolt on fit, most every mount will be custom.

I hope to start on it within a month. here are some pics of my current project. I apologize to all of you die hard Ford fans. I on the other hand am a car "NUT". I like all kinds. How this project came about is I got a wild hair up my butt to start autocross racing. I went to my local event and visited with everyone. They all were running miatas, mustangs, Camaros, etc... I wanted to build a truck. So I started off finding me a prospect and this is what I started with. It is a 1969 Chevy c/10 stepside. I Bought from the son of the original local owner. It had been sitting under an oak tree for about 8 years since his death. I immediately pulled the small block powertrain and started with my modifications. I ordered my suspension from Rob at "NoLimit Engineering. I stiffened & X-braced the frame, installed a stroked 6.0 LS with a built 4l80 along with many many other mods. Here are a few pics for your pleasure.....Thanks, Casey

Good stuff! I think the 97 swap will go pretty straight forward...
