Is he the original owner? How immaculate is this truck? Maintenance history? I would be pretty concerned about the top end of that motor, as well as the transmission falling out of it in the next 20k miles.
There's a whole lot of other stuff on that truck that's had plenty of time to get worn out by now, 14 model years old, and near quarter million miles... Brakes, steering, suspension, electrical/charging systems, accessories.... That's not something to take lightly. Was this thing a hangar queen, a landscapers truck, a plow truck, used to haul RV's coast to coast, or driven by a little old lady to church on sundays?

Modular motors can and will run for a long time but that is too much money no matter what cab it has. With that many miles though don't be surprised if you have to do ball joints replace the unit bearings along with tie rod ends track bar bushings and if the trans hasn't been rebuilt or replaced again don't be surprised. Also look at the exhaust manifold studs if any of them are broken that is something else that will need to be addressed. I wouldn't not buy it but not for 9k

2003 for the 5.4 shouldn't have any issues with the plugs though. If you are serious about it I would definitely get it checked out and ask for the service history. If the front end is original that will be a $1k hit alone.
