Does anybody know the last year that Ford cars had vacuum wipers? I'm pretty sure that my Dad's 59 did, but that's about all I know about them.

Surprisingly mopar and some others went electric much earlier. I just read that Plymouth used electrics in 51.

falcons and comets had them in 61 and 62, not sure for 63 though.

Don't know why fomoco held on to them for so long. I think that everybody else had moved on long before.

well the early falcons and comets were no frills econoboxes.
with the 144 engine and 3 speed trans, they were advertised at 31 mpg. and would do that, and better if driven sensibly. vacuum wipers were part of the no frills package.

 

my '68 t-bird has hydraulic wipers.

 

My 52 customline has them darn blasted things , but my 53 effie had electric ........ And the wiper motor sported a fomoco tag if i remember right .........
