Hey guys and gals!

I am having a slight issue with my 6.9L, when ever i go to start the truck up it runs at a high idle, i checked the soleniod, and then un plugged it, no change. The truck continues to high idle even after operating temp is reached. Next i ran the idle screw out till it was almost flush with the fuel lever. That resulted in no change

Checked my fuel pressure ( electric fuel pump) and i have 10 psi at the filter head with the truck running.


I have done some work recently, new fuel line olives, return lines, and exhaust.

Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

 

try removing the solenoid

 

Removed the solenoid, filled filter with diesel kleen and atf, cranked truck. loped like it had a cam in it for 5 mins then smothed out.

Before pulling solenoid, idle was at 1250 rpm, checked with timing light. will check again after work for idle speed.

 

disconnect the throttle cable at the injector pump and see if the idle drops.
the cable could be bad causing the high idle.

 

X2 on the cable, alot of times the plastic sleeve at the end of the cable inside the cable breaks from old age, and it jams not allowing the throttle to fully return to idle.
