Ever broke your timing gear driving a manual?

So, are you not curious about why the gear retaining pin keeps breaking? I am, unless I missed something in what you wrote.

Well yeah of course i was more than a little curious about it. After cleaning out the oil pan, pick-up tube/can and looking the oil pump over real well i cant really come up with anything causing it besides all the stuff i pulled out of the can filter. I dont know if anything besides something getting stuck in the oil pump could lock up the dizzy like that. Maybe the plate that broke on top of the dizzy has something to do with it but again i just dont know.

Good to hear she's up and running again. At least now you can scratch "failed timing gear" off the list of future worries.
