Timing Set Installation ?
Ok i took a 400 out of a donor truck that has a 600cfm edel carb, intake, and headers. And i put a comp cam Magum Double Roller Timing Set on, and the question is before i took the old set out i lined the gears up, but when i put the new gears on the cam gear timing mark was in the 3 and 9 o clock postion instead of being in the 12 and 6 o clock postion(the timing mark is a line that goes all the way across the gear) so i just left the cam alone but then when i put the crankshaft gear on i put the keyway on the retard postion then turned the crankshaft until the normal mark was pointing up. So then i took the gears off then put the chain on. Then i did a full rotation of the engine and no valves were hitting. But then when i am ready to put the engine in today and tested it again and now it feels like there is a valve hitting because i can go so far in either direction before i cant turn the engine over any further. So i was wanted to know if i put the gears in right or not and if not how do i do it right.

well the thing is the timing mark for the cam shaft gear is that it is a a line ground into the gear that goes all the way across not a dot. Now there is the doll pin thing that the cam gear and that is pointing down.
