2011 6.2 EDGE CTS-2 problem

Good morning Ford Truck,

I am regretful that my first post has to be a cry for help. I recently bought a new EDGE CTS-2 for my 2011 F250 4x4 with 6.2.

Out of the box it has never worked 100%. To date I have only successfully tuned my truck twice. Each time was very random and without any real certain why it worked.

Here are my symptoms:

Connected CTS-2 to OBD port and followed on screen instructions. First attempt the saving stock data failed and I had to unplug and try again.

Before trying again I updated the device. Once updated I tried for a 2nd time. This time all went well up to the actual re-write. 99% of the time I get a "failed to unlock vehicle" error.

I have been in touch with EDGE for 2 weeks now and no tech there can explain why this is happening. They see errors in the files but do not currently have a fix. I am starting to loose patience! 600$ for a tuner that barely works stings a little!

Truck runs great but is now stuck on Level 3. I have no freedom to choose between tunes as it fails nearly every time.

I ran a diagnostic using the CTS-2 and came up with 3 error codes. These codes only show when a tune is attempted.

P0600 - Serial Comm Link Malfunction
P060A - Internal Control Monitoring Processor Performance
U0300 - Internal Control Module Software Incompatibility.

Has anyone with a 6.2 used and EDGE CTS-2 and experienced any issue like the one I am having?

I have posted this on another forum and received good feedback, but feel like getting it out to where more can see might lead me to a resolution...!

Thank you in advance

Cheers

JB

I seem to have posted this in the wrong sub forum. If a mod could, please move it to the tuner section. My apologies for this!

Have them send you a new tuner (the actual device) just to rule out that being a problem.

Is you obd port connection clean (no dust or dirt)?

If he has a tune on the truck, then it is locked to each other. A new tuner would not work. His stock tune has to be re-installed on the truck from the original device before he can try a different tuner. Otherwise, it will have to be re-loaded from a Ford dealer or a professional tuner with that particular stock programming.

JRBurcell, sound like you are going to have to deal with Edge tech's to figure the issue out, or negotiate to have your truck software re-flashed. If you do ever get it fixed, give 5 Star tuning a call. Their tunes and customer service are 2nd to none.

For what it's worth, I have a 5 star tuner on my 2011 F350 6.2l. It loaded with no issues (I've returned it to stock snd loaded different tunes a few times)

sevelle009 and Diamnd1,

Thank you both for you feedback!

There mere fact that I can tune once in a while is what I find mind boggling! The second time it went I swear it was because I giggled the OBD II cable coming from the device... however I have not been able to duplicate it so now I am not so convinced!

If EDGE doesn't come up with a solution I will have to request a refund once I am back to stock. I really don't want to say its the EDGE, but I am not sure what else it could be?

When I look under the DASH I can see where the previous owner used the Up-lifter switch as the OEM wires have been spliced. The harness that goes into the OBD II port appears to be in good order as well!

When the device tries to tune I can hear the ECM making noise... clicks on and off real quick. There is something definitely interesting about this issue...

Sevelle009

To answer your question about the port it visually looks clean and un-tampered with!

So when I got home today I tried returning the truck back to STOCK. I report that I as able to, but I had too attempt the return 9 times before it took.

I actually feel there is an issue with the Device. Just by the way its acting!

I'll be contacting EDGE in the morning!
