Horsepower threshold specs for 6.7L 2015 F250.

Looking at getting a SCT x4 to reprogram ECU. Wanted to make sure it did not damage drivetrain due to horsepower overload. Also will accept suggestion. Thanks in advance.

The '15s have enough fuel and air on tap to hurt the transmission pretty quick. They are capable of high 500's on tuning. All depends on your tune of choice and your right foot.

Welcome to FTE as well. I don't run a tuner because I don't want to hurt anything -- IMHO any tuner can generate enough HP to hurt things in these trucks. Nothing wrong with tuning - just be prepared to get things fixed if you play too rough.

Thank you for the advice. I am hoping to increase the MPG. Don't want damage anything in the process but looking to 18+ mpg instead of 15.

I will never understand (because I don't know how it all works) why they haven't developed de-tuners.

I would take 350hp and better economy any day. Doesn't it stand to reason that trimming the fuel and air to reduce hp would save fuel?

Probably not, why are these engines so counter intuitive?

Any custom tuner could write a file pulling fuel and air out to create this result.

Everyone has differing opinions, but this is my personal advice:

Don't tune a 6.7L with factory emissions equipment still intact. You won't get an increase in fuel economy, and you risk expensive emissions repairs later down the road. The emissions system on these trucks is extremely sensitive to modifications, and there are some notable failures that have been reported on this and other forums, as well as seen at the dealerships, that run into the thousands of dollars.

Having said that, play at your own risk.

Again, thank you all for the input. I'm guessing I will be waiting till the factory warranties are up to start any modifications.

Wow. I'm getting 16.8 on freeway, not towing. But have it on cruise control most of the time. A lot of the mpg is based on the right foot. I've got,4.30 rear axle.
