Just bought an 04 f350

Just got an 04 f350 with 112k miles on it very clean truck. Seems to be a stock moto other than a 4 in turbo back so far I have only ran about 500 miles with it in the past 3 days. I was very nervous about the 6.0 but it was a deal I really couldn't say no to. Just looking for some thoughts and help to make this a truck that will last I know doing the built proof is probably the best idea but I did get a 2 year warranty on it. I know maintaining it is the key but any other help is appreciated thank you.

I'd start with all the fluids. Then, test the batteries and alternator so that you ensure your FICM's health.

There is a very solid write-up of maintenance tips on ficmrepair.com that will surely save you money. Maintenance Tips

Welcome to the 6.0 brotherhood!

Before you do the coolant, check out the guide at:
5. Backflush the oil cooler - lose the Ford Gold coolant.

Sharp truck.

Hint...........get a Scangauge II or something else to monitor data real time,
Those gauges on your dash are glorified idiot lights and will tell you very little info.

Scangauge will monitor critical things that you would normally have no clue about.
Things like your ECT(coolant temp) and EOT(oil temp) and the fact your spread or "delta" should not be above 15 degrees warmer on EOT.(a sign your oil cooler is plugging up)
FICM voltage.....never below 45 or 46V
ICP pressure
IPR values
Voltage of charging system.
Quite a list, and there are a LOT of things you can program into it, as well as other brands.....I'm sure someone else will chime in with another good brand.
Scangauge will not do the best job of pulling codes but is great for monitoring date real time.

I hang out here just to read about other issues so when something comes up it might trigger something that I have read about.

Don't let all the info overwhelm you. There is no stupid questions really, and there is a TON of help from some VERY knowledgeable folks.
6.0 is a good platform if you stay ahead of things and know what to look for before problems get worse.
Just remember, drive it like you stole it once a week. It's not a porcelain china doll, and does not want to be treated as such all the time.

Dang, a two-year warranty of a 14 year old truck? How many miles do they allow? That sounds awesome.

2 year 24k mile it wasn't very cheap but it's cheaper to pay that in the payment than for repairs out of pocket lol
