Go Commercial...

If you're going to keep the truck and want it to last regardless of what you throw at it, use a proven commercially-applied product such as LineX...it's thick, strong, and lasts a LONG TIME! Good luck, either way.

BTW, congratulations on the new bed. Where'd you get it and do they have any more?

Thanks but I really want something that I can apply myself in my garage. I got the bed on Craigslist from a guy in Armada Michigan who has a contract with Ford and they are take off's. Mine is white primer from the factory and it's perfect, not one flaw!! They have many short and long beds, tailgates and bumpers.I also got the 2015 tailgate and rear bumper!!! I'm collecting all my parts now and over the winter so I can do my build in the Spring as it wont fit through the door to get it in the garage!!

I bought a kit a few years back for a new F150 that I had at the time. Raptor. Got it on ebay for about $125. Comes with 4 one liter cans of material. Add the activator, shake the 1 liter bottle, screw the spray gun that comes with the kit to the top of the bottle. Plug into your air compressor and spray it.
Of course you have to do some sanding & masking for prep work. But I had a couple nice heavy layers on a 6.5' bed and had a liter of material left over. Good product at a good price. It was recommended by someone on another forum who had used it many times previous. I was very happy with the outcome. It looked like I'd been doing it for years although it was my first time.
This time I went with a Bedrug bedliner and I'm happy with that. But it wasn't cheap. At any rate here's a link for the Raptor kit:

Thanks!! I will look at Raptor. I really appreciate the input and its good to know it worked good for you. The last thing I want is for it to chip or flake off after all the work put into it!!

You're welcome. It was recommended by someone that I trust on a tractor/equipment forum so I gave it a shot. I was happy with the results.
Post back and let us know how it works out for you.

I applied Herculiner in my 2003 when it was new. I really like the product. It was easy to apply and has been very durable. Over the past 13 years I have no rust and one two scratches that were caused by a cube of bricks that were being loaded into the bed with a fork lift. I would highly recommend Herculiner.

Did you get the Raptor liner and use it yet? Just curious cause I just got a 2012 F250 and want to put a spray on liner in it. Last truck had a plastic liner in it, but I really never cared for it, plus I know junk was under it and it was probably rusted thru at spots.
U Pol makes good products. I have used some of their spray paints already.

Coat with rust bullet or chassis saver. Truck bed liner doesn't work good at protecting against rust, I tried it already.

I know a guy that used one of the at home bed liner kits and it looks terrible and flakes off. I have had 2 trucks with the LineX bed liner and after hauling rocks, compost, dirt, trips to the dump, a ton of pellets using shovels and rakes and whatever to unload whatever was put in - not one chip, flake or scratch. You can always call them and get a bid, might be considerably less if they do not have to take it off the truck.

I have use 3 Herculiner kits and I hated them. They do not last and they break down and soon they show metal underneath. I applied it to my 1989 F-150 and a truck bed trailer about 6 years ago and the liner is showing the metal underneath. I am interested if you went with the Raptor Liner kit too because I want to try it.

Only thing I've seen scratch linex is ski-doo carbides. If I had the truck bed off like that I'd get the whole thing linexed in color match

I have not used the Raptor liner yet as Im doing it in the Spring but I will post pics when im done. I'm doing the inside of the bed but also the underside and also inside the bed sides after i pull the foam out.I also want to do the area between the bed and tailgate and the inside bottom edge of the tailgate. Then I have my slip in bed liner to go on top of that. I will also do the floor pans and inner rockers.
