Original Ford Spare Tire Lock

Hi all,

I had never seen one of these before and thought it was too cool not to share.

An original Ford lock for the spare tire. What's interesting is that you need the key to lock it as well as unlock it. Now my spare tire is locked up in style.

Much thanks goes out to 1986F150six for the fun addition!

I had one on my 86. It probably hadn't been taken off since 86 either.... Unfortunately, I ended up having to cut off the lock to get the tire off since the key was gone long before I bought the truck

Fortunately, I have a "Bronco key chain" inside that's for things that you only access while you're using it. Locking fuel cap, high lift jack lock, and now the spare tire key.

Original Ford Spare Tire Lock

Hi, replying to an old message but I just purchased a 81 Bronco with original spare tyre lock with key & I’m just wondering are they rare or worth anything?

Hi whiteford,
It's hard to say what they're worth, but definitely a collector's piece.
You can try putting it into the classifieds on this site, and/or on eBay and see what it goes for.

Not exactly rare. They show up on eBay every couple of weeks. I have a few and paid about $30 each for the used ones. Payed maybe $75 for a NOS.

I have this same lock on my spare but no key. Does your key have any identifying key numbers on it? Trying to get a replacement key????

Sorry but it doesn't. The Ford emblem is on both sides. There is a small H on one side but that is it.

Made by the Hurd Lock company.
Probably what the "H" stands for.
