Spare Tire Lock
I just bought a 2000 ranger and it did not come with any original keys. I got keys with it but no spare tire lock key. How hard is it to get a key for the spare tire? If I can't get a key how hard is it to defeat the lock to get the spare tire out?

its not to hard to get the lock out. I had the same problem with mine, it only took a few minutes to get it out. just take a flat head screw driver, stick it in where the key goes and pry it out.

All the spare tire lock does, is plug the hole where the lowering rod goes through. My 2002 didn't come with a lock, and i never put one one on. People don't steal spare tires in my neighborhood thankfully.
