Does the black cps go bad...
The one that is supposed to be the good one? I guess anything is possible, nothing lasts forever.....
I obtained a black cps from clay some years back before the supply ran out. Have been running it ever since with no issues. Lately ive been getting the "hiccups". Has done so intermittently about 20 times, but only threw a SES Light twice, one of those times was today. Truck has died 3 times in past 3 mths, but no light. I drove/towed over 400 miles this past weekend with no problem. Today riding around town it did it 3 times within 2 miles and last time it threw a light with the P0344 code. All of the searching ive done points this code to a cps failure. I had taken my truck in for the recall, then bought the black cps about a month later, again, a few years ago. Then put the recall cps in glove box. But gave to my dad one day while he was having issues, never got it back. I purchased another new cps from Clay last year to keep as the spare.
I suppose i could try swapping it out, that would be easy enough, but i thought the black cps was the solution for those that could get a hold of one?

The black one was the original problem and the reason for the recall.
I personally have never known anyone have an "other than black OEM" CPS go out.
Some say the OG black idled better, I didn't notice a difference in my truck..... When I swapped in a grey after my black died.
