1995 7.3 E350 No Power

So our Search and Rescue Vehicle died again today. It was started and moved. they shut it down to check fluids. when they went back to it and turned on the master battery switch the main stuff turned on. When we turn the key to on, or anything we get nothing. Digging into the system further it appears we lost 12 volts on both yellow wires on the ignition switch. I checked the 60 amp fuse under the hood (GRRRR I HATE E Series) and it is good. Does anyone know where these "yellow" wires get power from. I am guessing there is a corroded wire under the hood but being i have no clue where it gets power from and being you can't get to anything I'd like to get a direction...

If your not getting any wait to start light, unplug your fuel bowl heater and check fuse 22# if this is similar to an F series.
I would also check the starter relay, when that fails the truck will have no WTS light.
When my starter went out the solenoid was doing something werid cause the truck to short out and a no WTS light afterwards.
Hope that helps

I have no power to the ignition switch at all....we are way before the WTS light. Both yellow (power) wires going into the switch have no voltage.

So the maxifuse that you checked is the one that is supposed to supply power to the ignition switch? Did you check for voltage at that fuse socket, along with checking the fuse itself?

You should try to get your mitts on a 1995 Van EVTM; they're priceless for troubleshooting things like this. Alas, the vans and trucks are wired differently, and my '95 EVTM only covers the trucks.

The fuse is good. I cannot figure a way to access the bottom of the fuse panel, i can barely get my arm down to the fuse panel ! Does anyone know if the 2 yellow wires into the ignition switch are actually what leaves the fuse block under the hood ? Im tempted to run a temporary wire in from the battery to see if i can get it running.

Not a whole lot of van people in this neck o'the woods. There is a separate van section on the forum. But again, an EVTM would answer your question, and a lot more.

If i could get my hands on a EVTM I wouldn't be online looking for help ! Been searching for a more in depth manual for this vehicle but not many around.

The forums are a great supplement to factory manuals, and add the dimension of members' personal experience. They DON'T substitute for the factory manuals; there is no substitute.
