Having some Speedometer cable issues

The original speedo cable in my 1991 F150 finally bit the dust. I put in a new one and its dosent seem to want to work right. I lubed the cable twice with white lithium grease. It seems to work just fine until it reaches 50 to 55 mph. Then it kinda just stalls and hangs tight. When I slow down it will eventually catch up and then work right. I pulled the cable out of the new housing and didn't feel any kind of resistance. Any ideas would be appreciated as to what I did wrong or might need to check. Thank you

I resolved this issue. The speed sensor had come apart. For $17 I fixed it. I do wonder though about the blue drive gear that was on it when there is a yellow gear in the transfer case. Anyone know about these gears? Should it not be a yellow drive gear to go with the yellow speedo gear?
