5.0L V8 idle speed

Looking for some real experience on the idle speed after warm up for the 2011-2014, F150, 5.0L V8 in "Park" mode.

The new 2015, F150, 5.0L, V8 idles at ~ 1000 rpm in " Park" mode.
Tested two new F150 with 5.0L engine & both have equal steady state idle speed of ~ 1000 rpm.

The 2015 5.0L V8 incorporates a modified intake & exhaust manifold and camshaft(s) change with increase in rated torque
from 380 lb-ft to 387 lb-ft.
This design change may affect the idle speed of this engine.

I'll check later, but I believe my 2011 5.0 idles in the 800 RPM range.

I wonder why it's that high. My old 4.6 idles around 600.

My '11 idles well under 1,000. If they had to change manifolds, logs and CAMS to net a 7 ft-lb increase then I've lost all hope.

1000 rpm idle speed seems a bit on the high side for a new engine.

An intake manifold leak will cause an increase in idle speed.

Concerned about transmission shifting from "Park" to "R" & "D" @ 1000 rpm.

1000 is "high idle - warmup" on my 5.0. Around 600-700 non-high idle

Just checked mine, warm idle is probably closer to 600-700 RPM, it's a little above the 500 RPM mark on the tach.

Thanks a bunch for the feedback.

The new 2015 ,F150, 5.0L, V8 idles at 1000 rpm after about 10 minutes warm up @ 70F ambient.
Tested idle speed on two new 2015, 5.0L, both had equal 1000 rpm warm idle speed in "park" in SoCal climate.

This fast idle speed is a show stopper. Seems like it would be tough on the transmission to shift at 1000 rpm from "Park" to "R" or "D" on a continuous basis.
My 1985 , 351W, V8 Bronco also had fast idle problems, no intake manifold leak.

The 2015 , 2.7L EB idles at 700 rpm after short warm period at 70F ambient.

A "show stopper".

If the idle speed is enough to get you to buy a different truck I think you have some odd priorities. I don't pretend to know nearly as much as the folks who designed the truck, but I don't see an issue here.

Just took a gander at my 2014 f150 5.0 its rumbling at 1000 at "high idle - warmup" and about 600-700 after it warms up, or normal temp.
