flathead idle speed

I have a 239 flathead and was wondering what the proper RPM idle speed is?

Thank-you for the link-very useful info there

I replaced my old distributer cap -the inner bushing where the rotor fits was burnt out. What a difference it made when I fired up the truck. the engine runs much smoother now


I may be able to slow the idle from 625 to 475

that should improve mileage a little
