Most of the threads i've seen on this subject are really old and was wondering about parts that may be used for my specific application. First, i'm looking for headers that will fit my vehicle. I have a Mercury Mountaineer 2wd with the 5.0 roller motor. I want to add "Cheap" (or cheap as possible) power to my truck. I've searched for tuners/chips/computer changes that may help me. I would love it if someone could post some links to the parts they are suggesting and steer me in the right direction but i see attachments are not allowed and may apply to links also. I just bought this vehicle and am a little disappointed in the power it has compared to my Oldsmobile Silhouette van that had the 3800 v6. Seems that they are very close in power, excel, and torque. and i'm almost sure my old van could beat my Mountaineer, especially in the 40-70 mph rolling pull.

 

Before you spend money on mods, are all the basics good? Plugs, wires, filters, fuel injectors clean, etc? Most people don't maintain their cars worth a crap, so if you just picked it up, I'm guessing it's way overdue for maintenance.
