ac and heater hoses

ac and heater hoses
I am putting the AC in to my 49 F1 with a 5.0 carburetor engine and I am not sure of the best way to run the hoses while trying to keep the engine bay from not looking thrown together. I was thinking of running them behind the inner fenders but ruled that out because I would have to open the ac system if I wanted to remove the inner fender. Can anyone post pics of your heater & ac hoses showing where you ran them.

Not sure what system your using. This is how I routed the Vintage Aire set I have I know alot of people want to hide their mechanical stuff but for me since I will be using this truck for more than shows I want my mechanical systems accessible for service. I ran both hoses along the inside passenger fender. One up top and the other down along the frame back to my dryer, through the gromets to the inside. You can run them exposed and still keep stuff out of the way. The hoses above the radiator will be hidden under a cover so you wont see them.

Then you have to run the hoses on the outside of the inner fender as you first suggested or I have seen one guy who covered all his wire, ac and heater hoses in between 2 inner fenders. He basically sandwiched it all between the 2 fender walls and filled in the gaps. Looked great but was a whole lot of work. Good luck with which ever method you choose.

I did what you do not want to do. Mine is a SBC and I ran the AC and heater hoses down and thru the lower front passenger inner fender thru a bulkhead fitting and in the fender well. It is very clean. If you are wanting to be able to remove the entire front of the truck, core support with everything piece of sheet metal, and not break into the AC system, that is a tall order even if you are not trying to keep the engine bay clean. At some point you have to tie into the evaporator which will be behind or under the dash.

I managed to finally get the above pix posted. I did have photos in my "old" album that have disappeared showing the bulkhead fitting from the engine side of the inner fender panel.

Thank you for sharing the pix. Do you cover them with any additional sheet metal under the fender? It seems like they would be a real challenge to keep clean under there without a shielding plate of some sort. Any advice/thoughts?
Really appreciate the heads up on potential difficulty of removing front clip.
