Fuse #27 makes sense for blowing if there's a wiring problem in this circuit. Fuse #27 (15A) feeds the switch, which is just a SPST switch. The switch should provide power to pin 29 of C175 at the PCM when the button is pressed.

If you are getting a spark when connecting the switch in one way, it sounds like that wire of the switch is shorted to the shift lever/chassis ground. Have you checked for continuity from each of the switch wires to ground?

im having problems finding the wire on the chassi...if its in the switch, meaning close to the button, its the type where i cant take the end off shift lever, but what iwill do first,is check continuity from shift leverswitch,if not there, then will check from where it plugs in under dash. hope its the switch!!!!!

You could. You'll want to first determine if the switch is a momentary N.O. push button or a latching switch. I don't recall which it is and the wiring diagram doesn't make it clear. If the diagram follows normal engineering convention, the symbol used is for a latching switch.

But, then you should also ask yourself, how often do you turn the OD off? If the answer is "never", then why even both installing a separate switch? Leave the wires disconnected and, if you ever sell the truck, let the next owner know about it an give them the option to decide if they want to fix it or now rather than drilling a hole in the dash for something you never use.
