2002 Explorer: Poor Idle/stall solved. Now need Part #
I've had the infamous Check Engine light on for a little while now. Had it checked out and the code pretty much points to the Differential Pressure Feedback EGR (DPFE) sensor. No biggie, I ordered one from DirectFordParts.com for $15. (better than $60 from the dealer).
Anyway, while waiting for the part my wife complains about a sudden change in the vehicles character. It's runs really rough, stalls quite a bit and get poor gas mileage....progressively getting worse. I figure this may be caused by the DPFE but I hear a hissing from under the engine cover. Sure sounds like a vaccum leak. So I spray some carb cleaner around the area and the idle straightens out. Hmmm.
Don't tell me it's the infamous cracked plastic intake manifold! Call Ford to see if the class action law suit covers me....nope. Missed by a few months. Hmmm, maybe a bad intake gasket.....
Anyway I figure I'll look again to find the exact spot of the leak. Whamo, there it is plain as day. A 3-4 inch rubber hose/elbow with a big A$$ hole in it. I wrapped a bit of tape around it and the car runs perfect.
So, can anyone help with a name and part #?
Here's a pic. Note: There's some coolant on the part as I pulled the hose above it temporarily.
