Proud daddy post!
Many of you have been following my occasional posts regarding my youngest daughter, Sarah's accomplishments.
She's in her 3rd year attending Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Va. She's been a member of the ROTC unit since entry. Baldwin's ROTC is better known as VWIL which is short for Virginia Women's Institute for Leadership. This is the gateway to becoming an officer in the military.
She is also a member of the Virginia Nation Guard and joined the Guard under the SMP program, simultaneous member program, if this helps anyone here.
This past Friday, through VMI and with the blessing of the Virginia Guard, she signed her contract of intent with the US Army. This contract benefits Sarah in that if she continues to meet all the requirements upon graduation, she'll commission in the Army as an active duty officer.
She's been chasing this hard since her 2nd year and she was the only Baldwin cadet to get a contract at this time.
Her senior instructor at VMI, a Lt Colonel informed me that Sarah got all of their attention because she lives for it. She's motivated, smart, articulate and she didn't waste this past summer away partying with her friends. She stayed in shape just for this rare opportunity.
The day she commissions, I will break out my old uniforms and I will be her first enlisted salute.
