Calling on transmission guys...
Okay here goes, I have in the garage waiting a E4OD from a 97 f250. I need to take it to my trans guy to have it built to go behind my 400 for my 96. The E4OD he built for me years ago that is behind the 351w works great but it is a 4 speed with the 351 not making the torque the 400 will it makes me wonder.
I already have way too much into this 400 as it is, why not keep dumping at it ( a little bit of a love hate relationship). I have researched on this and came up with very little info. The 6R140 I know they put it behind gassers as well as the diesels. Did the bellhousing change again? does anyone make any adapters? let alone a stand alone controller for it?
I know it would be expensive but I like the idea of a 6 speed shorter drops between gears makes the engine load drop increases efficiency. I have heard the strategy the 6R140 uses is very complicated so I am unsure so that is why I am asking.
I know there are companies that turn the 4L80E into a true 6 speed, but I would rather keep my ford a ford, I don't know what other options I have other than a manual( I won't go that route) or a gear vendors unit.
Help...
Thank you,
Curtis

If you can make a 6R140 work behind anything that it didn't come in originally you're a much better engineer/fabricator than I am. And that's definitely possible.
Make sure to have a huge stack of money, and A LOT of time to make this work. The software problems are going to be so big that I don't think you can even begin to imagine them.
