Question Quarter panel replacement

Im in the process of replacing the two rear quarter panels on my 1992 Bronco (very bad body rot). When I bought the quarters, they were primed on both the front and back. My question is that do I have to spray the back of the panel with something like undercoating or can I just leave it primed? I'm worried that it might rust out fast only being primed.

I would lean towards spraying rubberized undercoating. You don't say how you are going to attatch the new panels, I'll assume you are going to weld them. You'll need to keep the edges clean of any primer or under coating. Use masking tape around the edge to be welded. Once the panels are installed, or you may want to remove the inner side panels from the Bronco, to finish spraying the undercoating. Good luck....

Thanks for the help, but what kind of rubberized undercoating should I use? I bought some from advance auto, sprayed it on, and let it dry for a day (24 hours) and if I just touch it, it rubs off. Any help?

I,ve used Simonize. The rubber undercoating usually takes a few days, considering in the humidity factor. I would give yours another day or two and let it set up real good. Sounds like you're on your way to a great resto! I had a 78' and I miss it! It had major rust, but it ran like a @%#*#. If you know what I mean! I do like the front end of the 92'. It's very sharp! Good luck and I'll talk to you later...

Thanks, I will let it sit and see how it is then. I like how the front of the '92 looks too, it will be nice when I'm finished with the project.

Hey there SuperDave77! I don't have a digital camera yet, or a scanner for that matter. But if you are new to this body work stuff, check out some of the publications here at FTE Parts Shop. Or, if you just want to get some free info, your library should have some good reading to give you some pictures and even some good ideas to get you started. I always check out the library, before I purchase any publication. I want to make sure it's going to get used and used and used.... Talk with you guys later....
