Coils, Coils, Coils

OK, what is the best coil I can buy for a stock FE duraspark system? I need the one that has the pins(?) for the slide on bracket. These cheap aftermarket ones suck big time!

Can I run the MSD 8205 blaster coil on my stock duraspark system? Websites show it's a replacement for the coil on duraspark motors. I just don't want to fry any resistor wire or something. Thanks

As an old-time Accel fan, I got one of those for my Duraspark system, but the blasted horseshoe connector would not slide down over the coil. The "collar" around the head of the coil was thicker than the horseshoe connector, so I gave up and put an MSD 8222 epoxy potted coil on it. Works great now!!

Well that sucks I did not have that issue with my 79 .. Could there be a difference in shoe connectors ? I'll have to look in my wiring harness parts nest tomorrow for variation in shoes ..

I dunno what the problem was, redroad.

I also had an MSD direct replacement, and it slipped right over that one!! It did say "Made in China" on the Accel package, but MSD might be using the same Chi-Comm factory, for all I know.

In any event, we ended up using the MSD 8222 along with their StreetFire control (DUI distributor), and it works really well.
