I am looking for a transmission inspection plate for the C6 behind my 351W. The part number I have is C6AP-7986-A. When I research this all I can find is that the part number works with a big block. It appears to be the correct shape. Can someone confirm that it is the correct part for small block. I am also looking to purchase one. Thanks for the help.

 

There are literally dozens of shapes and sizes of block plates and matching inspection covers for every engine and trans combo, and for different years, too. Frankly, it's a simple enough piece you could probably make one with a piece of sheet metal and a pair of tin snips if you can't find the exact part you need.

I looked at the plate on my 351W/C6 and it is a "service" part number. D10Z-7986-A
Call your local FORD dealer part department to see if they have one and they can tell you what the application is used for.
