Engine & Transmission
I assume this may be a C6 from a 68-70's vehicle and probably came with the 390.
Is this correct, do I have a C6?
If so, will it bolt up to the original 352?
I know I should just try it, but wonder if there is some experience out there that might be shared. Thx. Jeff
Iron case and aluminum bell? Cruise-0-Matic, or MX series trans.
C8 is 1968, but I can't decipher the rest. Others here can, but a quick look might tell you sooner.
The transmission, still in place, has C8AP 7006 C
(C8AP-7006-C = C8AZ-7005-C 3 speed MANUAL transmission case) cast into side and a tag attached with PFB-F on top line, 012406 on next line.I assume this may be a C6 from a 68-70's vehicle and probably came with the 390.

C6 = 17 transmission pan bolt holes.
FX/FMX/MX Cruise-O-Matic = 14 transmission pan bolt holes.
Are you sure the ID code reads PFB-F??
I could not find a listing for PFB-F in any 1965/79 Ford & L/M Passenger Car & 1964/79 truck parts catalogs.
However, all the PFB ID code prefixes I did find (PFB-A / -B / -B1 / -B2 / -D / -D1 / -D2 / -D3 are for F100/350 Cruise-O-Matic's, not C6's.
A Passenger Car or F100/350 C6 from this time frame (1966/72) would have a PGA or PGB ID prefix.
I checked my transmission again, and the codes I provided earlier are correct, i.e. C8AP 7006 C and PFB F on the alum. tag with 012406 below. The bell housing is aluminum and the casing and extension are cast iron. The extension casing itself is 7" long, which from other sources tells me my tranny is an C-O-M type as you guessed. Thx for your help. Jeff
