'09 Escape liftgate release and radio woes fixed
New forum member (old -65 yrs and counting) driver - lol
Just bought an '09 Escape with 50K on the dial. Sweet deal but the liftgate release quit and all radio controls and the upper display panel were dead. The used car (Honda) dealer was unable to fix the radio and all they could offer was an aftermarket - I declined and we settled on us splitting the bill for a used unit with them installing. Took the thing home an hour ago and decided why not RTFM?
I found a fuse listed on the passenger side fuse panel that controls the radio and display and opened up the panel to see if it maybe was blown. Was it blown? No. Was it there? Also no DOH!. I plopped in a new 10amp into the empty socket and lo and behold - everything now works just fine and I cancelled the used radio order.
Sometime it DOES pay to read the freakin' manual - lol.
Oh yes, the liftgate release. Took me at most 5 minutes to do the replacement. 3 torx screws hold the liftgate assembly (Ford PN# 9L8Z7843150B ) and there are two electrical plugs going to it. Out with the old, on with the new and the release now works perfectly.
Sometimes you get the bear.
Enjoy your Memorial Day holiday everyone, and remember that Freedom was not free - my brothers and sisters in arms paid the ultimate for it.
