Post ZF Swap Issues

When I start the truck up, the idle hunts for a couple seconds until I rev it up and then it idles normally. What could it be?

I put a brand new SBC clutch set up in it and it seems like it's very difficult to drive smoothly, is that normal? Or is on account of the automatic ECU still in there?

I can't recall exactly what needs done to the auto wire harness, but it most definitely needs modified. A PCM from a manual wouldn't hurt either, but I'm not currently running one after my swap.

I thought the wiring issues were just to get the truck running and driving.

Not sure what you mean. The auto trans wiring harness needs modified for it to operate properly.

I used the trans harness from a 97 with a ZF. Cruise even works.

auto PCM is doing that.

It's searching for stuff so it lopes.

A chip burned for a manual would accomplish the same thing as getting a manual PCM, right?

While it's installed, yes. The only downside is, if you have some other running problem and want to rule out (or in) the chip as a possible cause, when you remove the chip the loping idle would return.
