A friend of mine is considering a motor swap in the 82 F100 with a 300 six and 3 speed manual trans to a 302 with auto trans out of a 84 Ford truck.
I know the motor and trans should swap out using mounts and such from the 84 but what electrical / wiring harness problems will he run into? Would he need to use the wiring harness out of the 84? I read somewhere here that the wiring harness changed within this body style (80 - 86).
I would use the v8 harness. It will have the wires the correct length and routed properly. You could modify the six harness to work, but it would be less work to use the v8. Just keep an eye out on the instrument panels. If one has a charge light, and the other has a amp gauge, then the alt wiring will be different.
