Air filter change interval??
How many miles are you guys typically getting out of your air filters? I kept watching the air filter gauge and never saw it changing as the miles added up. I'm at 22k miles now and finally opened it up and looked at it and decided it was time for the first change even though the gauge was not indicating it needed to be. What say you?

The air filter on the 6.7 is not the Doldaldson filter like on the 6.0. I suppose the Motorcraft filter doesn't have the load carrying capacity, but it cost much less so it can be changed out more frequently for the same $$$.

I went 47,000 miles on the original air filter and the filter minder had not budged yet. The filter just started to actually look dirty at that point. There wasn't any fine dust in the intake tract so I'm not going to go crazy and say that the filter minder doesn't work, but I will probably start changing it at 20k intervals because they are cheap and I have a few on hand.

The part of the filter you can see gets dirty looking quickly, but there is so much filter area that it can look nasty and still be doing the job.
I have about 45K on mine and the filter monitor is about halfway down the green, have a new filter coming in tuesday along with a new fuel filter.
Change them sooner if you like, won't hurt anything, but I like to get more value from what I buy.

Changing more often isn't bad for the vehicle but just added work if you're not having issues with it. I've seen the filters that come out of fleet trucks with the filter vacuum gauge right into the red zone, those pleats are packed! Had to clean out the rest of the air box too.
I only changed mine to an aftermarket air intake because of the snow ingestion issue I was having with the stock setup. I guess they just assume people shouldn't drive in blizzards? Well we don't exactly shut down the town like some places do when it snows...
