A little help on leaking new water pumps

Its been a while since I logged in and said hey to you guys. I check in from time to time to see what's going on, but haven't spent much time here. I'm sure yall missed me

2004 F250 Crew. Had a busted radiator and replaced the water pump with the radiator. Used a new pump, and not rebuilt. Purchased from Advanced Auto. I chose one with a metallic impeller.

There is a small plug (a little smaller than a dime) just below the pulley. The plug leaked just a little, so I swapped the pump out with another new one. The second new water pump is leaking more than the first.

Anybody else had this experience? What manufacturer should I use?

No offense and I'm sure the guys will correct me if I'm wrong but I'd go with a motorcraft part.

The metal impellar is a great upgrade. If its leaking, take it back.

Are you sure that it from the drain hole and not the
O-ring seal? Once the shaft seal goes on the water
pump then you have to replace the whole pump.
Sorry that there is not a fix other than replacement.

Sean
Sean, I did replace the whole pump. There is a plug that has leaked on both pumps.

How much psi are you building in the cooling system?. When you change it again you should pressure test it to cap pressure and see if it leaks. Strange that 2 in a row leaked, but anythings posiible.

Good thought, Steel. But I have an egr delete and have tested the coolant system pressure. Out stays steady around 10 to 12 (if memory serves). I checked it over a year ago and have put 1000 miles on the truck since.

I too thought it was strange to get two NEW wp that leak.

I think you should recheck the pressure that way your armed and they can't
say that you blew it out with high pressure.

I think your getting some bad parts also.
