Can’t find the OBDI Port on my 1997 Ford F350 5.8L E40D Transmission…
Hi everyone,
I am kinda new to this forum and have been lerking for a while now, and really like the site...
I bought this truck form a local town government fleet. It has 101,000 and the transmission is hard shifting…
In my research I found that one of the 1st things to do as a diagnostic tool would be to check for codes…
Got under the dash and, if there is one under there, I cannot find a OBDI port to plug into…
Has anyone ever seen one of these without a port, or could it located somewhere else?
Also, does anyone know what this part is, and shouldn’t it have something hooked up to it?
Any input would be very helpful.
Thanks...

OBD1 ports are under the hood, usually on the firewall near the PCM. OBD 2 ports are under the dash near the steering column as per regulation.
The last of the old generation Super Duty trucks were weird birds. It's probably an EEC-IV PCM and the connector is under the hood.

Any ideas on the pics?

So.. was this one supposed to have the OBD2 under the dash, or not?
Also, what kind of reader do I need to pull some codes, as the OBD2 is nowhere to be found under the dash in the usual place..
