Bob , I get alot of that "we " ***** around her also . I always ask how the mouse in your pocket is feeling .In the past 20 yrs have I totally rebuilt the inside of the house with simple things & many custom items .Some just for her . Added on in the back attached to the house a 12 x 30 porch w/ windows & sliding doors .Cut custom corragated hurricane panels for the whole house , porch & shop .Reroofed the house 10 yrs. ago just in time for the 2 hurricanes in Aug & Sept. It was the only thing that saved the house .Painted the house 5 yrs. ago . Made a hurricane retardent car port .It lasted thru the 2 storms . Nothing here is hurricane proof .

Then a week ago she says " I can ceramic tile the porch floor " She has to be off the meds !!

Great work on the repair panels . Takes some equipment , time & patience . Repaired the typical rust areas on the fenders for the stock truck .

I hate home improvements. It's not the work itself, I like seeing a job done but what I really hate is it seems I spend more time in the truck going back and forth to the store for parts and other things I don't have no matter how hard I try to plan a project and get everything to do the job.

Well, here's what I got done today.

Back of the passenger side lower fender

Cut out the bad

Make inner and outer pieces

Weld them in

Passenger side fender together, I had to make a few adjustments. As much patching I did to this fender, and I will do to the other, these parts will never match up with parts from another fender.

Some filler to cover the scars of the Frankenfender

Inspirational work Bob.

My dad has picked up several sets of fenders, some of which will need some work done. My question is about working the fenders off of the truck. These fenders aren't very rusty but are pretty dimpled and will need lots of bumping, banging, and grinding.
I was thinking of bolting the fenders (rears) to a piece of plywood or something to hold them firm while I work on them. Is that necessary? have you ever had issues with it or am I just overthinking the whole situation?

Bobby,

That's really the way to go. I should probably build something to hold the fenders while I'm working on them.

Something like these from this post:

This is a little more work than I want to do:

Thanks for the link Bob
I must have missed that the first go round.

Dad managed to pick up several sets of fenders. He's going to let me experiment with body work on them (meaning that if they come out nice he gets to keep them....lol)

Thanks again for all the tips and for showing your work. It helps a lot

Bob that's some impressive work! Hey I went and bought the Harbor Freight shrinker/stretcher set. I think they were like $150 Talk about fun! It's really cool to take a flat piece of metal, bend a 90 degree flange on a brake and start putting the curves into it!
