just have to ask

I have a 1955 f100, and finally got the door to fit. Now the question is the door latch engages with the striker on the cab but there is a quarter inch play. You can pull the door towards you but the latch is still engaged.
My question is do I replace the door latch with a stock door latch? Or would you go with the Altman latch kit? Thanks for any input.

Altman's are very nice, I am putting them in my 52. Not sure the factory latches are the same on the 48-52 as yours. My old latches were worn out and left a lot to be desired. Even new they aren't as good as the Altman latches IMO.

I belive the play is for the weather strip the should be mounted (glued) onto the door, that will take care of the play (inwards).

Nothing wrong with the latch from that perspective.

Nevertheless I will myself go with the Altman as they are a lot safes when the cab twists on bumby curvy roads.
