My rear-end differential came apart and is not repairable. I have a 1997 F150, 2WD, 4.6L engine, 5 lug wheels. Does anyone know which years have the same rear ends so I can scour the junk yards for a replacement?
You need to look at your axle code on the door sticker and look for the same code.
If it's an open rear, a traction lock type in the same ratio would be a nice replacement.
Good luck.
in general 1997 thru 2003. As mentioned, if you get "about" the same axle ratio the truck will act as it does now. If you get a much different gear ratio, you power / gas mileage may changed drastically.
1997-99 will use the 12mm wheel studs. 2000-03 went to 14mm wheel studs and your wheels won't fit. You are looking for an 8.8 rear, not a 9.75 both are 5 lug but the 9.75 won't work with your drive shaft.
