rear end ratio
i have a 1981 f150 4x4, the axle code on the door frame says 14. does that tell me the gear ratio in the differential? if it doesn't how do i find out the ratio? i can't find any tags on the diff or the axle

That should, but I'm not sure. If not, just raise the axle, put the transmission in neutral and count the number of revolutions of the wheels as opposed to the humber of revolutions of the driveshaft. 3 and half drive shaft revolutions to one wheel revolution = approx. 3.50:1
