2009 Escape : Water dripping from passenger handhold
Any ideas where I should start looking for the root cause of the following leak?
My wife noticed that when it was raining water dripped off the handhold by the front passenger seat. The ceiling liner is dry, no evidence of water soaking into it. I am thinking windshield or door seal as there is no moon roof and the liner is dry but before I start tearing into it I want to see if there is even a chance I can fix it myself.
thanks
Greg

Looking at our 2010, I could theorize 3 possibilities:
Windshield seal leak.
Door seal leak between metal of door and outer face of seal. A leak here could be detected by smearing baby powder or something on the flat surface inside the car on the seal, as a leak at the outer edge of the seal will cross over that exposed interior surface on the way to the grab-handle.
Door seal leak that is between the seal assembly and the body of the car itself. I think a good visual could check that one out. I believe the seal assembly fits onto a flange, so if a piece of seal is missing or a gap is found, that might be it. I think a leak here will go into the car inside the A-pillar trim, and could run out from inside. But so would a windshield leak. May be able to pull off the A-pillar trim to see. Sometimes pulling interior trim is like the ankle-bone is connected to the leg-bone, the leg-bone is connected to the thigh-bone, etc.
