63 F100 CC with padded dash
I am new to the forum and have been reading it constantly for the past few days.
There seems to be tons of expertise on here. Has anyone ever heard of a 63 (non-unibody) with a padded dash? My dad bought this truck new. His story is that he had to replace one of the defrost outlets, or speaker grille...IDK. My dad specified that it had a padded dash. The Ford parts guy flatly told him that they never made a 63 with a padded dash. The guy said it like he meant it. Of course my dad was driving the truck at the time. I have not heard of any padded dashes until 65-66. I have not heard of it, but you guys are the experts. How rare is a padded dash as an option?
BTW: It is still intact with no cracks at all.
In my dealers pricing book, it lists an option called "Safety Package" for $89. It included a padded dash and a passenger side sun visor. (No seat belts mind you, or collapsable steering column, but a padded dash.) So another question experts: how many people's lives were saved when they plunged into the padded steel dash instead of the painted steel dash?
Also, although it is a Custom Cab, it does not have the inside door trim. It has the bright grille and side trim outside and one arm rest on the driver's side.

Gee, thanks. Knowing my dad, it must have been just there on the lot by chance when he went to buy. If it cost an extra nickel, he would not get it. Now, I am sure he would have gone for the V8 rather than the 6. If they would have offered him an AM+FM radio for $10 more he would not have done it. Thanks fro the info on the door panels too. That is an interesting fact.

Padded dash
IMO, it was one of the rarer options in '63. Parts guys are not sales guys. I mentioned it, Check out post #310 on page 21 on this tread. It appears whenever a rare option thread comes up, we tend to become fixated on the Ranger option.https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...l#post13517750
