Which spark plug and wire set?

What spark plugs and wire sets are you guys (and gals) running? I'm sure like most other topics there is no consensus, but just curious what you feel is a really good set of plugs and wires. I am budget conscious but not cheap. I have had good luck with other vehicles running on Autolast double platinum plugs, but not sure what to use on these trucks.

If it matters, I have a '78 F150 4x4. built 400, 4 speed, Weiand intake, Eddy 1406, long tube headers, etc. Runs great but I should change the wires at least. Plugs aren't necessary since they were new when rebuilt about a year ago. I'm still interested to know.

Here are a couple I found at about $50 per set (leaning towards Ford Racing):

9MM SPARK PLUG WIRE SETS - "FORD RACING" | Part Details for M-12259-R301** | Ford Racing Performance Parts

8mm SPIRO-PRO UNIVERSAL Wire Sets - Taylor Cable Products

Thanks for the feedback

I've always ran Motorcraft plugs. As far as wires go, I've always gone with whatever house brand lands in the $50 range, because that's about what I expect to pay.

I run the Ford Racing M-12259-R301 - Ford Racing Spark Plug Wires they are $46. at Summit Racing. They are great and a must when adding performance parts to your engine, IMO. As for the plugs, I use Bosch Automotive 4004 - Bosch Platinum Plus Spark Plugs, about $3/ea, again from summit racing but I also have some trucks that I run the Motorcraft in and they are fine.

I'd really like to see quantitative data (not a marketing graph on the back of a box) showing how much of a "noticeable power gain" spark plug wires can really offer. It's easy to "notice" something when you've spent a lot of money on it.

I usually use motorcraft everything when I can. Its getting to where parts stores have to order motorcraft wires and plugs when I want them. They use to always have them there. When I did a full tuneup on my 92 F150 with 302 I think it was about 200 bucks for all motorcraft parts. I use the cheap parts if I have to and you sure can tell the difference when you do.
I'm not sure of power gains but definitly better driveability and reliability.

Yes taking the mufflers off my truck made it SOUND like a horsepower gain. lol

Sorry I had to, cause it at least sounded faster, so it had to work right?

My thinking there is opposite. I put my glasspacks ON to boost speed/horsepower! Therefore, they do. Lol

I used the MSD wires but can't remember the diameter without looking but they are heavy. I chose them because I wanted to make my own length wires so I didn't have the spaghetti look going on. One thing I hate is spark plug wires that are too long.
