power steering pump reservoir

broke the plastic nipple for the return line on a 6.9.

looks like a pulley removal/installation tool is required in order to get the p/s pump out of the truck . is it possible to replace the plastic reservoir only on these, and, if so, can it be done while the pump is still in the truck ?

if it can't be done in the truck, is it a big deal to do it on the bench, or should i just get a whole new pump assembly ?

You might have to remove the pump, You take the fitting out of the side of the pump and the reservoir slides off the back.

I agree with red. You can get the reservoir off by removing the pressure port and the reservoir slides odd the pump's o-ring. The engine block might prevent you from pulling it off completely, but you should be able to remove the bracket and pump as an assembly. If not, autozone loans out the pulley puller tool.
