broke power steering pump

i went to replace the power steering pump return house (the rubber one) on my 1992 f150 4.9l 5spd, and i broke the plastic spout off the pump.i broke the nipple that the hose slips over. question is, can i just replace the back half of the pump? like the reservoir part? if so, how does it come apart? all help is appreciated.

You can replace just the plastic reservoir if you can find one for sale on its own. You will have to remove the pressure line and the big fitting it threads into. Then the reservoir will just pull off the back of the pump. It would be a good idea to replace the o-ring between the reservoir and the pump while you have it apart.

Why does it make sense to me to use the whole new pump and put the used one in storage for replacement parts, instead of taking the new pump apart and putting that new reservoir on the old internals? PS, buy a Ford pump not a reman.
