6.0L Coolant Question
Let me start by saying I DON"T have any engine problems now......and I'm hoping to keep it that way. I purchased my 07 350 6.0 a couple a months ago and upon arrival to my home I was going over thing under the hood, (Checking hoses, wiring harnesses for chaffing and fluid levels) noticed the coolant to be closer to the min. line than the max line. topped it off with one or maybe two pints of the 'green stuff'........then found this site. My question is this: did a couple a pints of 'green' coolant contaminate the five gallons or so of FORD Gold that my truck has in it? and if so what if anything can I do to correct it other than the obvious drain and flush, flush, flush, flush and replace with Ford Gold or an equivalent? Thanks for any help with this issue. Mcrafty1

If it were my ride, just topping it off I would not panic. It is not that critical of a deal IMHO. But not knowing the service history of the vehicle maybe it is a good time to change the fluids. At your next earliest convenience I would probably change the coolant just so you know it has been done. Btw does your coolant bottle have the "updated" "min-max" line sticker. They have revised the newer level to where the new max is under the old min. If not the truck will more than likely puke out the coolant due to being over filled. These trucks and especially mine do not like to be over filled in the coolant or it pukes until it is right

Good advice from both you rapter131 and you bismic, I don't know the in-depth history of the engine that well and I am coming up on service time, I also have Sinister Diesel water filter on order and plan on installing that at the same time so I'll get some new Ford Gold and drain and replace the coolant at that time.

You might be right, I only know my 05 had it added after I brought it in for service. I have no idea what year the change was made.

I would guess the two pints of green coolant had as much or more silicate as the 27.5 quarts of Ford Gold that was in the truck to start with. It's chemistry is based on silicate. If you have a functioning EGR cooler on your truck I would flush and fill ASAP, and try to avoid high boost/high temp conditions until you can get it out of there. If you have an EGR cooler delete no big rush. (My opinion).
