Cruise deactivation switch harness fuse?

I finally got around to trying to fix my inop cruise control. Did the self test and got a flash code 2, BPP switch. I replaced the switch but its still inop and still have flash code 2. Got my meter out and started checking system. I found the fuse in the deactivation switch recall harness was bad. I removed the harness and plugged the two remaining connectors together and the cruise works. I returned home and unplugged so it wouldnt short out. The connectors are clean and no signs of fluid.

Says on jumper harness that the fuse isnt serviceable and to replace with 9F924 harness. Well the fuse is serviceable and the harness ohms out good. Is there a need to buy a new harness or would I be ok with a new 5 amp fuse? Anyone else replaced just the fuse? Did it blow again? Thanks

This was part of a recall, ford replaced the one on my 02 Ex for free sometime in 2011. It's worth a try, just my .02

I talked to a friend that works in parts at dealer. He said the harness kit was a one time recall, the part comes with 12/12 warranty. The recall had been done long before I bought the Ex. The new harness and switch is only $20. But I put a new fuse in the "non-serviceable" fuse holder. The cruise worked today, for the whole 2 minutes I had a chance to use it. If it pops another fuse I get a new kit.

Im having the same trouble.
Talked to a Tech friend @ the local Ford Dealership, Gave him my Vin and he said on my 2000 there were no open recalls on it.
So basically Im on my own as far as replacing the switch.

Recalls are good forever.

Not all notices are recalls, but this one is. You can tell if it is a real recall by the number. If it has an S (Safety) or an E (Emissions) then it is a recall and never expires.

There are also Customer Satisfaction Programs that will have an A or a B. These are NOT recalls and may have an expiration.

A recall is lifetime.! if it says you cannot replace the fuse then take it in and tell them the fuse is blown. I don`t even think they will sell you a recall P/N over the counter.

Now off the record, if the harness is OK and it just needs a fuse then replace it, and move on.

I had a dealership tell me that it was not back when this came up.
Was that a case of them not getting paid after a time limit had expired
of there service manager just full of BS?

The ALWAYS have to do a recall. The dealer will get paid for it whenever they do it, even if it is years later.

I have 2002 f150 I had the recall done several years ago. Now my switch is leaking and the harness plug is soaked in fluid. I got the sw3650 repair kit from ford. While I was there they said the new harness included with the switch was all I need. Instructed me to unplug the entire long, fused, harnness and plug this one in its place. Is this new adapter fused? I am questing it because all the videos show this new harness as a switch adapter and plugs into current harness.????????????

I dunno, maybe the videos were posted by people who didn't know what they were talking about. Seems pretty common on u-tube.
