bed liner - Spray in or Plastic
So I need a bedliner. But I don't know whether to buy this paint in stuff from Canadian Tire or to buy a plastic insert. Now if I buy a plastic insert I'll have to get holes drilled for my rollbar, but if I use the paint in stuff then the holes are already there so I just bolt the bar on.
What do you guys think? I would think the paint in stuff would work, because I saw a guy with some in his bed and it looked good.
I really think $200 CAN is too much for a plastic insert, where I can spend $100 for the paint in stuff.
It's all up to money but in the end what is the best choice?

I'm glad this came up, and I know it has been discussed before, but I am finally getting my '86 F250 into the paint shop and will follow it with a liner of one sort or another.
I really don't care for the "splattered" look of a Rhino sprayed on liner I have seen in a friends truck. I saw the Line-X stuff on "Trucks TV" and it looks pretty sharp.
It's $485 for a long bed.
Anybody have any opinions about all of these spray on jobs? There seem to be a lot of them out there.

I have had both "drop in" and "spray in". Go w/spray in (or roll on). You have to sand or "rough up" the bed or area to be covered (allows the 'sfuff' to stick to paint). I have had "Toff" and "LineX", both. I like the texture of the "Toff". I have the "drop in" in my S'crew, bought used, but will at sometime in the future have it sprayed.

Bob,
If you have not painted you truck you may want to avoid painting the area that the liner will be sprayed on. It will cost you more, you will have to rough it up and they do not cover chips if the paint comes off with the liner material. They only gaurantee that it will stick to the paint.
You can fix problems with the liner chiping or coming loose at the bed edge with super glue.

I saw Hippo Liner and it didn't look nearly as textured as Herculiner. I just got done doing my 2nd truck with Herculiner and it looks great!
The first one is still holding up great after about 2 years and the only problem is fading from the sun. Herculiner offers a UV protection for it, but I didn't get it.
The only do-it-yourself that I'd get is herculiner, I don't think it holds up as well as some of the pro-installed ones do, but it 1/5 the price.

Where abouts in Canada are U? If you are close to Vancouver... I have a plastic bed liner you can have for FREE.
If you are going to go with a spray on and want the best... go with LineX. They can do color matching as well, but the price is about 600.00 CDN.
