Hey guys I'm about to paint my grill inserts as many of you already have. Now my question is when you painted it what kind of paint did you use? Gloss, flat, spray can, or car paint? I've got the front of it taped off and am ready to paint just need to know what you used. Thanks for looking
I removed my insert before painting. It is better to wash the grill, let it dry completely, then wipe it down with Lacquer Thinner. I used Rustoleum Paint for Plastic.
Removing the insert allows you to wash the front of the radiator area, and then spray it with paint too. It makes the grill look better. I wasnt really concerned with doing a great job, just tried to cover everything the same color.
Im using that on my light covers tomorrow...
I'm actually going to do a rebel flag theme on mine, but it is safer to wait 'til I am out of Southern California and living down in Texas...
I'm all about freedom is speech. Political correctness is equivalent to censorship. If you want a rebel flag on your rig, then by all means do it... it's "their" problem if they are offended by the stars and bars symbol. The last time I checked, offending other people is not a crime.
Btw, the reason it's "boring" is that these rigs sorta lose their identity (and year designation) by going all black. The silver leading edges are a cleaner look IMO and preserve our "Dentsideness".
